My Journey to God

The Agony in the Garden

Anguish and agony
Aware of what was to come
Wrestling
Pleading
Begging
Take this away from me…
Surrender
Yielding
Submission to the will of God

Acceptance of the suffering
Anticipation of the promise of new life
Yet not before betrayal and beating and breaking
Beneath the weight of the cross
The heaviness of heart
Shedding drops of blood

His wrestling is ours
Which calls us to
Surrender
Yield
Submit as He did
While holding fast
To the promise of new life
